Affiliate Links

How affiliate links work on World to Explore and why I always flag them.

Some World to Explore articles contain affiliate links. This means that if you make a booking or a purchase through one of those links, I may receive a small commission for the referral.

For you, the price doesn't change. You pay exactly the same as you would if you went straight to the company's website. The difference is that, by using a World to Explore affiliate link, a small part of that purchase may go back to the project.

These commissions help me keep the blog going, keep producing new articles and invest in the site itself, at no extra cost to anyone who reads it.

How I flag affiliate links

Whenever an article contains affiliate links, I put that information right at the top of the page so you know, from the very first moment, that some of the links in the content may earn a commission.

The links themselves are also marked as sponsored for search engines.

Who I work with

At the moment, I only work with DiscoverCars, a platform that lets you compare and book rental cars in different destinations.

I mention DiscoverCars mainly in articles where renting a car can make the trip easier and in pieces with practical tips on renting cars. The idea is to include this kind of recommendation only when it makes sense in the context of the article and when I believe it can really be useful to anyone planning a trip.

My recommendations are still my own

Having an affiliate link in an article doesn't change what I write or my opinion of a service. I only recommend platforms, products or services I believe can be useful to people who travel, and I always try to explain why I'm recommending them.

The possibility of earning a commission never means a service will get a better review or that I'll stop mentioning something I don't like. The opinion remains mine, and I want that to be clear in everything I publish on World to Explore.

Likewise, if an article is sponsored, involves a commercial partnership or I received a service for free, that will always be stated clearly.

Why I use affiliate links

World to Explore is a personal project and keeping a blog running involves several costs, from hosting and domain to the tools used on the site itself.

Affiliate links are one way of helping cover those costs without charging readers and without changing the price of bookings made through them. If you decide to use one of those links, you're also directly helping to keep the project going.
